Meet Mrs. Hofmann

I’m Lila Hofmann, and I’m the First Grade Teacher at St. James Elementary School. I grew up in NY and Northern California. I received my B.A. in Theatre Arts from San Francisco State University. When I lived in Chicago, I received my M.A. in Elementary Education from Roosevelt University. I began my second career as a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools, Latin School of Chicago, and Francis W. Parker School. At Parker, I taught kindergarten and then later moved to first grade. I spent the last two years in third grade at The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks. I am certified to teach grades K-5 in Illinois and California. As an educator, my goal is to exemplify and lead with a love for lifelong learning, build an inclusive classroom atmosphere, encourage creativity and critical thinking, and offer a sense of community. I believe in making real world connections to spark creativity. I aim to guide students to be mindful, responsible citizens of the world, who will be our future problem solvers. In my free time, I enjoy; yoga, volleyball, the beach, reading, roller skating, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.
